UPC check digit calculator

The last digit of every UPC, EAN and GTIN is a check digit calculated from the others. A wrong check digit means the code was typed or copied with an error, and marketplaces reject it.

How the check digit works

Starting from the right of the code without its check digit, multiply the digits by 3 and 1 in turn and add them up. The check digit is the number that brings the sum to the next multiple of 10. The same rule works for UPC-A, EAN-13, GTIN-14 and EAN-8.
